£7m-rated Sao Paulo defender Joao Miranda de Souza is set to join Spurs.

Scouts from the London club have been keeping tabs on 24-year-old, who is regarded as one of the best defenders in Brazil.

AC Milan are also interested.

Miranda said: 'I am concentrating on doing my best for Sao Paulo, but these rumours make me happy because it shows I am doing well.

'Playing in Europe would appeal to anyone and would be a big challenge to me in my professional career.'
