Blackburn Rovers move for Alan Smith
03:30 PM 27 April, 2009
Alan Smith could be heading back to the North West in the summer.

The former Leeds United forward won a Premier League title during a three-year spell at Manchester United, before joining Newcastle United in the summer of 2007.

His time at St James Park has been burdened by a string of injury problems, and he could be included in the cull of first team players which the Magpies are reportedly planning for the summer.

It is believed Sam Allardyce would love to add Smith’s fighting quality to his squad at Blackburn Rovers, and he hopes to land the 28-year-old for just £3.5million.

The move would suit Smudger, linking up with old pal Paul Robinson and ex manager Sam...I dont think he wants to play Championship football with Newcastle- he be better off returning to Leeds!

Not a chance in hell!!! Allardyce gave Smudger false promises at Newcastle and messed him around as to where his position lie, even though he wanted to play as a striker again when he first arrived.
