Liverpool and Spurs are expected to meet Palermo's asking price for striker Edinson Cavani this summer.

The 22-year-old Uruguay international has long been targeted by West Ham, but the Hammers sporting director Gianluca Nani has made it clear they will not meet Palermo's valuation.

"Cavani is a great player, we tried (to sign him) last summer, but we will not be trying again," Nani told MelitoOnline.

"We have not made an offer to Palermo because he is not part of our plans.

"16million euros (£14.2m) is too expensive. We are not interested."
