Aston Villa Football Club have been alerted to the possible transfer of Andrew Surman.

The Sun claims the 22-year-old is set to join Reading from Southampton in the summer, as the 22-year-old is far from keen on dropping down to League One next season.

However, it is believed Martin O’Neill wants to add the talented midfielder to his squad at Villa Park, and he will be contacting the Saints to register an interest.

The Royals are looking good to return to the top-flight either by automatic promotion or via the play-offs, but the chance of European football at Villa Park could turn Surman’s head.
