Mikael Silvestre believes Ryan Giggs should be knighted.

The Arsenal defender spent nine season with Giggs at Manchester United before leaving for the Gunners last summer, and he has nothing but praise for the former Welsh international.

“Had he been born English he'd have been given a knighthood by now,” he said.

"He would be called Sir Ryan Giggs and they would have put up a statue of him in Piccadilly Circus. He is a winger, which is the position where you run the most, yet he has never spared himself."

Silvestre hopes Giggs will have a quiet night on Tuesday, when he and his pals will be looking to clinch a place in the UEFA Champions League final at the expense of Arsenal.
