Kiely: West Bromwich Albion can rely on me
07:29 PM 11 May, 2009
Dean Kiely has told West Bromwich Albion Football Club they can rely on him.

The veteran goalkeeper was selected for the crucial Premier League clash against Wigan Athletic on Saturday, and he produced a fine performance in the 3-1 win.

The Baggies now have a chance, albeit an outside one, of escaping relegation, and Kiely has told Tony Mowbray he is ready to play in the final two fixtures.

"I am very strong mentally. I am really, really, really strong mentally. Even if things are going against me, it does not faze me,” said Kiely, who played in place of Scott Carson.

"If things are going for me I don't jump around like an idiot shouting from the rooftops how good I am. It's not as if this is my first game. It is my 747th!

“Just because you have not seen me play on the pitch, the respect I have for myself means that I keep my own counsel and train exceptionally hard.

"So that means if you want to have a game in the car park, I can play you right now."

I'm a big fan of Tony Mowbray, but the one area I have disagreed with him this season is over his continued selection of Scott Carson, who I'm afraid has at times looked shell-shocked. Selecting Kiely for the last two games seems the obvious thing to do,and a move that is long overdue.
