Tottenham Hotspur ready to take Barton gamble
12:30 PM 12 May, 2009
Joey Barton has emerged as a genuine target for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

Reports at the weekend suggested Harry Redknapp may be willing to take a chance on the England cap, who has been suspended by Newcastle United.

The Magpies are said to be exploring the possibility of sacking the controversial midfielder, and this is something the Spurs manager is keeping tabs on.

Redknapp has a history of getting the best out of players, and if he does land Barton, it would arguably be his biggest challenge to transform the bad-boy of English football.

If Diego Maradona can be Argentina manager - then Joey Barton can captain Spurs and England.

Joey Barton; Wow that will be fantastic, we can also buy Manny Pacquio and Ricky Hatton and that 'golf player' Bellamy and that Lee Bowyer and and Mike Tyson too - yeah - he bite off opponents very well. We will be a formiddable team. no one can BEAT US - literally. I doubt if any team will even want to take us on in the first place. We can collect all three points for ALL games through total walkouts. Excellent. One more thing, perhaps its time all referees are certified by the WBC and WBA too. Hello it is not what he can do with his footballing skills - its the disruptions and discontentment HE CAN BRING into the team THAT MATTERS. Haven't we had a discontented team at the beginning of the season????? Want to disrupt the current morale?? BArton supporters...go watch WBC or WBA held matches..adios

Joey Barton !!! Give me a break.. Even st harry could tame this idiot. Harry has a rep for getting the best out of players like for instance Paulo di canio at the Ammers, But this dick head is a psycho and cant be tamed. It would only be a matter of time before he gets himself sent off and lose us a crucial match and probably break someones nose or leg to boot. PLEASE ARRY NO!! THERE ARE OTHER PLAYERS TO TAME----DON'T DO IT YOU'LL LOSE THE FANS.....

barton is a thug. he isn't even that good a footballer even if he didn't have all the baggage he brings with him. he is also a coward anyone who saw him continually hit an unconscious man on the cctv film will know this. no professional club should sign him.

Harry has only just said today that he wants to banish thuggush culture from the team, following Ledley's appalling episode this weekend. I really don't think he will take a step in the complete opposite direction by hiring this lout, talented though he may be.

In response to christopher, behaviour clauses are already standard in contracts. The fact is that Barton will know this. The fact is that he has not and will never have respect for other peoplke. I would rather see us relegated than sign this thug. There was recently a story in the papers about social services house a sex offender with a young family and hiding the fact from the parents. The inevitable happeened. The parents said that if they had knownm, they would never have let himm through the door. The point is that we all know what Barton is like, and when the inevitable happens, we will not have the excuse to say we didn't know

IF HARRY COULD GET HIM TO PLAY TO HIS POTENTIAL AND WIND HIS NECK IN, HE WOULD BE A GREAT SIGNING. HIM AND PALACIOUS WOULD BE GREAT TOGETHER. BUT OBVIOUSLY SIGN HIM WITH A BEHAVIOUR CLAUSE IN HIS CONTRACT.
