Knight linked with shock Fulham return
02:30 PM 13 May, 2009
Zat Knight could be set for a shock return to Fulham Football Club.

The 29-year-old left the Cottagers for Aston Villa in a £4million transfer two years ago, and he still has the same amount of time remaining on his deal with the Midlands club.

However, Knight has struggled to command a regular place in the Villa side this season, and although he hopes to stay, he has been linked with a return to Fulham in the summer.

"Do I expect to be a Villa player next season? I hope so," he told the Birmingham Mail. "That’s why I signed a long-term contract for four years but it’s up to the manager.

"If he doesn’t want you I’m sure he would let you know and if you’re not wanted I’m sure you could go and look somewhere else. I want to fight to be in the first XI but it’s in the manager’s hands."

Roy Hodgson is expected to lose Brede Hangeland during the summer transfer window, and Knight could well prove to be an ideal replacement for the Norwegian.

You are having a laugh aren't you? Hangeland is a top class centreback, Knight is like Bambi on ice. No way would Hodgson buy him back.
