Alan Shearer is not even thinking about his own future at Newcastle United Football Club.

The former Magpies striker is in caretaker charge of the St James Park club, as they enter the final game of the season rooted in the Premier League relegation zone.

United travel to Aston Villa on Sunday knowing they must better whatever Hull City manage against Manchester United, and this is all that matters to Shearer at the moment.

“I am not important in this, Mike Ashley is not important in this. What is important is the football club,” he said. "That will always be bigger and better than any one individual.

"Hopefully, I am standing on Monday morning talking about Newcastle United as a Premier League football club. That's the important thing. Anything else can wait, and anything else is irrelevant."
