Imps boss on Butcher return
12:00 AM 24 May, 2009
Lincoln City manager Peter Jackson has refused to rule out bringing Richard Butcher back to the League Two club for a third time.

The 28-year-old midfielder is a free agent after leaving Notts County at the end of this season.

Butcher joined Lincoln from Kettering in November 2002 and made over 100 league appearances before signing for Oldham in the summer of 2005.

Later that year he returned to Lincoln on a month's loan before moves to Peterborough and Notts County.

Jackson told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "I'm bound to be linked with Butcher, he was a real fans' favourite here.

"I've been linked with lots of players, a lot of it's absolute nonsense, some of it's true. So is it true? Maybe."

"We've spoken to one or two people we have in mind, but other clubs have also got eyes on the players I'm looking at.

"We'll have to be patient and hopefully that patience will pay off and we'll bring in some good players.

"Financially I'm looking at five or six new players so we'll assess things over the next couple of weeks."
