Eric Cantona destined for Manchester United return
01:08 PM 25 May, 2009
Eric Cantona believes he is destined to return to Manchester United Football Club.

The Frenchman is arguably the most popular player United have had in the modern era, due to a sensational spell at the club from November 1992 to May 1997.

Since his retirement from the game at just 30, Cantona has concentrated mainly on his acting career, but he has often hinted at a coaching career in the future.

And if the 43-year-old does indeed return to the game at any stage, there is little doubt as to where he sees himself making the most sensational of returns.

"I don't know in how many years' time, but my name is already written on the Manchester United bench,” Cantona told La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I’m not saying (Alex) Ferguson will go.

“I hope with all my heart that he has eternal life with the Reds. I assure that sooner or later you will see me at the helm of England because I'm part of the history of Manchester. I'm number one."
