Duff rules out Blackburn Rovers return
04:07 PM 25 May, 2009
Damien Duff has vowed to stay at Newcastle United following their relegation.

Reports have linked the Republic of Ireland international with a return to Blackburn Rovers, where he arguably produced the best football of his professional career.

However, after scoring an unfortunate own-goal to send the Magpies down to the Championship, he has vowed to remain at St James Park and help them back to the Premier League.

“I'm as loyal as they come and, whether the gaffer stays or goes, I'd love to try and get Newcastle back up into the Premier League," Duff told the official FIFA website.

“I'm devastated. No disrespect to the Championship, but Newcastle United are too big a club to be down there. I plan on being straight back up after next season."
