Sunderland Football Club will not be making Djibril Cisse’s loan move permanent.

The Frenchman has spent the season on loan at the Black Cats, who ensured their Premier League safety on the final day of the campaign despite a 3-2 loss to Chelsea.

Cisse found the back of the net 11 times in 38 appearances for the Stadium of Light club, although he failed to register any more than once in his last 12 outings.

Marseille are said to want £10million for the striker, but Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn told the official club site: "We wish Djibril well and thank him for his contribution to the club this season.”
