Carlisle's Former England under-19 midfielder Gavin Rothery has signed a new one-year contract.

21-year old Rothery joined on trial in January, making his debut on the Easter Bank Holiday. He is a graduate of the Leeds United academy.

Carlisle boss Greg Abbott said, "Gavin is a young man who has had his set-backs in the game but he has shown a real determination to put that behind him.

"He wants to make this work, and we would hope to see him continue to improve and start to push the players in the first team as the season goes on."

"He has the energy and the commitment that we want to see, and he also has the ability, so we're looking forward to working with him when the new season kicks off."
