Spurs vie with Villa for €8m prolific predator
01:38 PM 28 May, 2009
Spurs and Aston Villa are hot on the trail of Wolfsburg hotshot Grafite (A.K.A. Edinaldo Batista Líbano).

The 30-year-old Brazil international was top scorer in the Bundesliga this season with 28 goals and was instrumental in helping Wolfsburg lift the German title.

The 6ft 2inch hitman cost Wolfsburg €8m, when they bought him from Le Mans in 2007, so the German club may expect to make some profit if they agree to sell him to a Premier League club.

As a spurs fan i've got to be fair and say that Villa had a great start to the season and nearly maintained that but i think they run out of steam towards the end of the season so couldnt sustain that BUT!! to draw comparisons to spurs is wrong simply because we didn't have the same good start villa did, we had too many changes in personel, lost three proven strikers and far too many periferal players, even so we proved that we are a force to be reconed with after all villa could'nt beat us at the latter end of the season. Had we played as good at the start as we did the second half of the season we'd be streaks ahead of the villa and you know it!! One season wonders.......

Villa a big club? who did you buy in the Jan transfer window? Emile Hesky! How many games did you win after that? 1!!! Who did spurs buy (back) Keane, Defoe and Palacios, ask any football fan who they would rather have in their team!! Agbonlahor = speed but no finishing ability, Young = speed but no end product, Barry = Going to Liverpool. I do agree with the comment below though and have always said it myself, spurs could have the same squad as Man U and still end up in a relegation battle but that's the point of being a Spurs fan - Loyalty. Villa a big club, it does make me laugh, when was the last trophy you won?

I LOVE Spurs fans. They the most stupid, hateful bunch of helmets bunch of supporter in the EPL. Highly entertaining funny little people indeed. Villa will finish above Spurs next season, no problem. Harry is a crook and will eventually be found out (and hopefully one day get over that facial twitch). Spurs will not qualify for Europe at the end of next season. Again Spurs are a small time and a mockery end of. Up the Villa! p.s. Have you won the European Cup?? Have you?

Jesus Christ Dave, do you not get the picture. How many good seasons did Tottenham have in the last 5 years? 2. How many good seasons did Villa have in the last 5 years? 2. Which were actually the last two so who is actually showing improvement? First off you spend millions and millions of dollars on players who end up being a bust. But I tip my hat off to the financial advisors for being able to sell them off for a profit. So in terms of stability mate, Villa have an owner that financially supports the manager and players, he also does not interfere with what happens on the pitch. Unlike other owners who tend to stick their noses far too deep, Lerner has shown great trust in his staff. Again, we are stable, can't say too much about Tottenham who just seem to axe managers at an alarming rate but it's understandable when you set expectations that at times seem unrealistic. Why would anyone go to Spurs? Money and location, that is it, not glory.

I love spurs because even if they bought the best eleven players in the world they would still finish outside the top 5, every year they overpay for players and never improve. Its comedy.

and yes i think your find we have had more succsess over the last 5 years. as for debt, you cant justify it just because the top 4 are in it to. the top 4 all have a turnover well in excess of 130m a year and all make over 30m profit due to finishing in the top 4 and having a huge fan base.

Dave, So we've had less success than Spurs? Hmmmm I beg to differ buddy. Like Spurs, Villa have finished back to back season's qualifying for Europe, they tend had a few odd season's without European play so really I think before you open your mouth about "Stability" check there. Also did you not read what I wrote about Spurs being a successful business? Sheesh. By the way, aren't Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd in debt as well? Last time I check they were heavily in debt but that doesn't mean they cannot run a club. Oh and if debt becomes an issue how is it that the top 4 are still able to be the top 4? Hmmm, it really isn't all about the money mate, because right now lets be honest, Everton fans can laugh at us both for arguing amongst each other.

I'm a Villa fan but I'm a football fan in general. First to the gentleman who said "Who gives a rats ass about the german league" Did you know the Bundesliga is the second most profitable league in the World behind the EPL? How can you say Portugal and Holland are bigger leagues? How many European spaces does Portugal and Holland get? The same if i'm not mistaken. Plus do you not notice the parity between the teams? It's competitive, Portugal is dominated by Porto, Sporting and Benfica. The Bundesliga has plenty of big clubs. Also to the Spurs fans, lets be realistic here, are you fellas in Europe next season? No. The no 1 reason why players would go to Spurs is because of location. The club is located in London enough said. In terms of quality, as a forward in Spurs....come on, it's like a freaking fire sale, they come and go. Spurs is a very very well run team in terms of business, the club is profitable no denying that, but in terms of on field success, how many managers as the club had in the last 5 years? There is more stability with Villa than Spurs, if you cannot see that then I'm wasting my time here.
