Simonsen rules out Stoke City departure
Steve Simonsen insists he has no intention to leave Stoke City Football Club.
The former Everton goalkeeper is firmly behind Thomas Sorensen in the pecking order at the Britannia Stadium, but he insists he is happy to stay and fight for his place.
"Once somebody establishes themselves in the team and performs well, you just don't know when your next chance is going to come along," Simonsen told the club's official website.
“It's very difficult, but I'm more than happy at the club. I've still got a year left on my contract. Whether the manager wants me to remain at the club I don't know.
“But we'll discuss that in due course. But I'm more than happy to stay and fight for a place in the team. I adore the club and the fans are absolutely fantastic.
"I've spent five or six fantastic seasons here and there's no reason why I would want to leave at the moment. It's a fantastic football club that's really going places."
