Portsmouth remain in pole position for Eriksson
Although reports Sven Goran Eriksson has rejected the chance to coach Sporting Lisbon are unfounded, Portsmouth Football Club remain favourites to land the Swede.
It had been reported that the Portuguese side want the former English coach in charge next season, but the Swede’s agent has denied reports his client has been approached.
"I do not know about the subject of Sporting," Athole Still told Record.
"I am the person that negotiates the terms for Mr Eriksson and nobody from Sporting has contacted me. It is his desire to return to English football."
Should Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim complete his takeover of the Fratton Park side, he wants Eriksson to replace Paul Hart, and this appears to be something of interest to the 61-year-old.
