Birmingham City Football Club have confirmed they want to keep Lee Bowyer.

The former Leeds United and Newcastle United midfielder helped the Blues earn Premier League promotion last season, during a loan stint from West Ham United.

And now St Andrews coach Alex McLeish has confirmed he wants to keep the 32-year-old Bowyer, as he prepares for the 2009-10 campaign in the top-flight.

"We are hoping to sign Lee," McLeish said in the News of the World of the player who would be available on a free transfer. "We are just waiting on answers from him."
