Arsenal line up €8.9m Adebayor replacement?
09:55 AM 01 June, 2009
With Emmanuel Adebayor seemingly set for a £24m move to Chelsea, it appears Arsenal have already identified a cut-price replacement: Real Betis striker Ricardo Oliveira.

The 6 foot Brazil international cost Betis €8.9m in January, when he put pen to paper on a three and a half year deal after signing from Real Zaragosa.

The future looked bright at Betis until they were relegated to the Segunda División on the final day of the Liga season.

Now Betis owner Manuel Ruiz de Lopera will be forced to sell his best players and the 29-year-old Oliveira looks set to join Arsenal if a transfer fee can be agreed.

I respect wenger for his belief in his young team. but i dun understand why arsenal proposed 8,9m for an aging 29 years old forward with no epl experience.. keep the money and invest on better player.

Matt, totally agree with you mate. I find it a disgrace that Colonel can comment on Arsenal's future when he can't even spell the English language correctly! We have the youth and class to excel in years to come, but I do feel that we need one center back and a strong central midfielder as a short term fix for now. As for a striker, what the hell are you talking about.... Van Persie, Adebayor, Eduardo, Bendtner, Walcott, Vela and Simpson We don't need any more strikers, especially strikers that have NO premier league experience. Adebayor has admitted that he owes the fans and I feel that we should give him one more season to prove himself. I'm one of his biggest critics but everyone can see that he can score goals.....

colonel M...your a complete muppet! thay is spelt they. You are talking out of your Arse. Lack ambition? Did you watch the FA Youth Cup Final? Wenger Knows that Rome was not built in a day. Our young side will dominate Europe for years to come, despite all the millions Chavski, Man Ure, Madrid, Scousers spend. And for the time being I'm really quite happy to watch the best 'flashy' football in the premier league. The only reason any other fans comment on Arsenal is because they fear the talent we have. Arshavin will smash the premiership to bits next season.

it shows Arsenal lack direction and will to move forwad.all wat they need is defender, midfielder BUT instead they talk of a striker to replace Adebayor.wats the use of a good striker without a good defence.if they were seriouos about anything, they will go for people like Lescott,Yaya,Barry,Hangeland but being Arsenal thay will play their flashy football that will make them struggle to beat teams like Fulham.ita team going backwards coz of their lack of ambition
