Tottenham target Michel Bastos will not be joining the north Londoners this summer.

Philippe Auclair of France Football told Setanta Sports TV: "He's staying. There hasn't been any contract extension signed yet.

"But the word from the player, the player's agent and from the club is Michel Bastos will stay for one extra season at Lille."

The left-sided Brazilian is only 25, so has probably not reached his peak yet and must want a taste of Europa League football with Lille before he moves on.
