Former Mansfield defender Jake Buxton has clinched a move from Burton Albion to Championship Derby County.
The 24-year-old central defender has signed on a free transfer when his current deal expires next month.
Buxton will sign a one-year incentive-based contract with the option of a further 12 months.
"It's a dream come true, and I am still dreaming now," said Buxton.
"I have been given a chance at Championship level and now I have to get in the side."
"I am going to give myself the best chance to do that by working hard and showing everybody that I want to play."
Derby manager Clough said, "He has come in knowing we cannot guarantee him one game or one start but he is going to come in and take his chance and give it a go."
"His attitude is first-class and we hope he will surprise a few people. He is one of those lads who will put his body on the line for the team."
"Although he has not got experience at this level, he will make up for that with desire and heart."
"For players to adjust to each level, whether it is up or down, they need time."
"He has the summer to get adjusted to it mentally so he can come back on July 1 and go straight into the first-team squad."
