Real Madrid reveal Cristiano Ronaldo regret
Florentino Perez claims Real Madrid should have signed Cristiano Ronaldo when David Beckham left the Bernabeu in the summer of 2007.
Installed as president of the La Liga giants for a second time, Perez has made no secret of his desire to lure the Portugal international from Manchester United.
However, he feels that the World Player of the Year should already be in the Spanish capital, as he believes they should have moved for him when Beckham’s contract expired two years ago.
"Madrid should have bought Cristiano Ronaldo as Beckham's replacement two years ago," Perez said in the Sunday Times. "I want to put that right.”
