Gary Neville to lead Middlesbrough promotion charge?
08:46 PM 01 June, 2009
Gareth Southgate is set to enquire about the possibility of the Manchester United legend leaving Old Trafford this summer.

A peripheral figure with the Premier League champions this season, the former England international is seen as the ideal player to guide Middlesbrough's talented youngsters back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.

United and Neville himself however are likely to give short shrift to any offer, leaving 'Boro to look elsewhere for an on-pitch leader.

I like the idea, Gary Neville would be a great leader both on and off the pitch for our youngsters, but unfortunately he is still good enough to play for Man Utd, therefore, the choice between playing Barcelona etc in Europe (even if not an automatic first choice) and Plymouth (no disrespect to Plymouth), then I think just the possibility of playing in the CL would make this rumour a non-starter. I wonder if Danny Murphy is available?
