Djibril Cisse is unhappy with the way his loan stint at Sunderland came to an end.
The French striker spent the 2008/0 9 campaign on loan with the Premier League club, but they decided not to make the move permanent and the player will return to Marseille.
"Honestly, I'm sad at the way it ended," Cisse told Sky Sports News. "Obviously they knew, they didn't decide on the Monday morning to not take the option. They knew before.
"So they could have been straight with me, and said 'You have three more weeks, and then we're finished'. No. They told me 'We need to be safe, then we talk', so that's what I did.
“But then on Monday morning I have a phone call explaining to me why they're not taking the option. If I'd known I could have had the chance to say goodbye to people.
"I don't think it happened on the Monday morning. They could have been kind and thought about me too, that I need to find another solution."
