Arsenal to ask United about £10million striker?
05:00 PM 02 June, 2009
Will Arsenal Football Club ask about Obafemi Martins this summer?

The Nigerian international striker has been linked with a move to the Gunners in the past, but nothing has ever materialised over the speculation.

But with Newcastle United losing their Premier League status this season, it is widely expected that the £10million signing from Inter Milan in 2006 will quit St James Park.

With Arsene Wenger said to be interested in signing a new striker ahead of the 2009/10 season, will he make an enquiry for the 24-year-old Martins, and would the player be a good addition?

Martins is a good player and should go. Hes done well for newcastle and deserves to play in a better team. Newcastle could use the money to hunt for young strikers. I bet there is a lot of quality young championship league strikers looking to go to a big championship club

Go for Real Madrid's "King of bicycle kick" Huntleaar. He is the one to win us Champion League If Martins can't survive in Newcastle, how can he achieve in Arsenal.

Anelka is too good for Arsenal, he wants to have a chance to win the CL and Arsenal have no chance. Current stikers are not very good, other than fagregas you are less than average. who would want to come to you FACT?

We should get Anelka in a cash plus swap deal for Adebayor with Chelsea. Anelka is EPL experienced and fits with our style of play more than Ade. He would give us more of a cutting edge up front and would score plenty in this Arsenal side. He is a good experienced age but not so young that he will stand in the way of younger payers coming through like someone like Benzema would. It is time Arsenal fans forgive past problems especially as he was only 18 at the time. What 18 year old hasn't made a mistake before and he has hinted a few times he regrets leaving us.

if he wants to go, let him go, i do rate him, but if hes not going to respect the number 9 shirt , let him go. i think we need a good clear out, maybe start looking at young championship players instead of splurging millions on nothing (Colo, Owen, Barton) arsenal dont need him up front, but im not quite sure where he'll go, back to Italy if anything i think. do Newcastle need to start using our young guns a bit more? Danquah? Edgar? Lua Lua? Carroll? Ranger?..... any thoughts? Keep The Faith

Arsenal should look at player like Tevez who had that winning desire. He is the striker that they should look at not Martins. The only problem with Tevez would be his cost.

Martins will be a good addition but he is not a first choice striker for a club like Arsenal. I believe he will be able to cause problems to opponents in an Arsenal shirt. He is fast , has e venomous strike and has good ball control also he has premiere league experience which is vital. He didnt get the credit he deserves in Newcastle . But if he is to be bought it has to be on the cheap more like 4 to 5 million. My opinion is that if Arsenal want to buy a striker they should go for Dzeko. If Milan are really interested about Ade maybe it would be wise for Arsene to trade him . Gatuso would be perfect for the midfield i wouldent want to see Flamini back(lack of respect for the sacred shirt) or Pato if he is negotiable :). Looking forward to see any moves for players especially in midfield and defense.

arsene wenger never said he would be interested in signing a new striker... he said he has enough strikers... and if no striker is leaving, we have to accept, that there won't be a new signing for our front...

the reason why newcastle were relegated is coz they failed to score goalz...martins scored few goal this season...adebayor scored 9 prem goals if im not wrong...martins shud not join arsenal..and i dont see the reason why arsenal is strugling finding strikers when the real problem is our defense.first sort out that defense and later think of strikers.why should we score 4 goals infront when we are conceeding four behind..arsenal get to work

Who? I thought you said we were asking Man Utd for srtiker- Nani. Which is what I would do. That kid can do a job for us. He is marvelous only his style does not fit in Man Utd. He can dribble and pass most of he shoots to kill. How about that Mr Wenger? Show some bottle, I mean the new Chelski boss has no qualms with idea that he fanciesn Adebayor so why would we not show interest in another club's player? Beside, they have Asley Cole already. Come on, give it a go.

Hold fire now! The evidence from last season does not suggest Martins is the answer. He has pace and power, but he's struggled to score goals and missed some sitters for the Geordies - why trade Ade for another striker we are not sure of? My preference would be to sell Ade, but Martins is not the answer

Obagoal should be a better replacement for Adebayo, who has become sluggish and lost interest in helping the club this season. Please Wenger go for Marthins
