Arsenal boss calls Adams a great manager!
03:13 PM 02 June, 2009
by Chris Cousins

Former Arsenal skipper Tony Adams reckons current Gunners boss Arsene Wenger referred to him as a "great manager" after he was kicked out of the hot seat at Pompey.

Talking to Sky Sports, Adams said: "When I left Portsmouth, Arsene was straight on the phone. He said: 'You're a great manager!'"

In his brief managerial career to date, Adams has achieved very little.

However, Adams has shown himself to be less-than-discreet with this outburst.

Discretion often forms the better part of valour in management, so Adams may count himself lucky to get a another high-profile job in the near future.

Meanwhile, Arsenal fans may wonder if Wenger always uses the word "great" as a adjective to describe "mediocre at best"!

Some would argue that could apply to his young Arsenal team, which has been described as "great" by Wenger despite their lack of trophies.

Who is not great in Arsenal? Even he called his wife "great" once upon a time. But we have never seen her touching the ball...................

Olkat, in Wenger's words "you're great!" By the way, I'm Arsenal through and through too, but I choose not to be one of the "In Wenger We Trust" brigade. I don't want Wenger out either, just in case anyone jumps to conclusions. And on Adams, he didn't achieve at Wycombe either. Do you honestly believe Adams did a better job than Paul Hart at Pompey? I suggest you take off your rose-tinted specs!

its articles like this one that make me cringe... what on earth are you on about.... just an excuse to have a dig at the arsenal, wenger and a former legend in adams. I am a gunner through and through, and biased on occasions, maybe, but lay off adams, he didnt have any success at portsmouth, but maybe wenger was referring to his personal skills not that of a team left by their manager, with top players being sold and no money coming in... what did u lot expect adams to achieve, champs league place? title challeneg? get a grip, adams didnt get results at pompey, it was his first major job as manager, to say he would be lucky to get another job is a joke. didnt villa go on a runn this season of no wins in 13 games or there abouts, hes a great manager, adams record was poor but he didnt have a great deal of time. he'l be back. change your job cousins, your whack!
