Crystal Palace have signed midfielder Darren Ambrose from Charlton.
The 25-year-old will join on a two-year deal on 1 July after his contract at The Valley expires.
Cash-strapped Charlton are keen to off-load some of their higher earners after relegation to League One.
Palace boss Neil Warnock said, "He is one I have been after for a while and I bid £1million for him when I was at Sheffield United but he went to Newcastle instead.
"I am delighted really, he is a young lad with so much to prove. He just needs to enjoy himself a bit and play with a smile on his face."
"He is so versatile - he can play right, left or off the striker.
"Whatever system we play on a given day, Darren will be able to adapt to that.
"He is a quality footballer. I was so impressed with his attitude when I met him - all he talked about was football, not wages."
