Robbie Fowler has earned a pay-as-you-play deal with Blackburn Rovers Football Club.

The former England international was released by Cardiff City at the end of last season, and after initially stalling on Rovers’ offer, he has decided to accept a deal.

"We have agreed in principle a three-month pay-as-you-play deal and we hope to have it tied up by the end of the week," said Blackburn chairman John Williams.

"If we go ahead on that basis and get it registered then if the manager wants him he would be able to be in the squad against Arsenal on Saturday."

In his prime at Liverpool Fowler was once regarded as the best finisher in English football, yet these days would appear to be long-gone for the 33-year-old.
