Former boss outlines Celtic task
06:00 PM 10 June, 2009
Davie Hay has told Tony Mowbray in simple terms what is expected of him should he become Bhoys boss.

"The basic concept is still the same - you have to finish ahead of Rangers," Hay told the Evening Times.

"That was the case in my time and it hasn't changed since then."

West Brom will stand firm in their demands for £2m compensation to allow Mowbray to leave the West Midlands and Hay added: "If you want him, you've got to pay it I'm afraid.

"In the past, transfer fees were associated with players.

"But, on the managerial front, that price now has to be paid for expertise."

i've got to agree 100% with john above roy keane would be an ideal manager. because i certainly wouldn't be paying 2 million for mowbray. but why not bring someone like billy mcneill back in to do the job ?

Celtic should be trying to get a manager with far more experience on-board. Dave Hay is 100%...........the task in Scotland is to finish ahead of Rangers and visa-versa. With European football however the task becomes very difficult which is why we need a manager with a proven track record at the highest level who can attract top players...the only exception I would be willing to accept is Roy Keane who is still learning his trade but at the same time would freshen things up bigtime. The Celtic board however want a "yes man" who wont jump out of the pram in a quest for funds. John Feeley
