Arsenal Football Club face a fight on their hands to sign Tranquillo Barnetta.

Arsene Wenger has been linked with the Bayer Leverkusen ace since Euro 2008, when he starred for co-hosts Switzerland despite their disappointing campaign.

Barnetta is entering the final year of his contract with the Bundesliga outfit, who are believed to be willing to offload the midfielder should a bid of €10million be tabled.

However, reports in Italy claim Serie A giants Lazio are set to make a move for the 23-year-old, with the Corriere dello Sport claiming contact has already been made.
