Why don't Liverpool pay £40m over 4 years for David Villa?

Fernando Torres has asked Liverpool to bring in his Spain international strike partner to play alongside him at Anfield.

"Rafa Benitez makes the signings and I'm sure those who come will improve us," Torres said in the Daily Star.

"If it was me I would bring David Villa. But that may not be possible."

"We play well together and link up so well," he added.

"It's a pleasure to play with him.

"I don't know if we are the best partnership in the world but we are European champions and that is almost the same."

With Villa in the side, Liverpool would gain more points and therefore be likely champions of the Premier League.

Therefore why don't Liverpool offer Valencia £40m in instalments over four years? Surely that amount is affordable to Liverpool, given they've bid £17m for Pompey's Glen Johnson.

Well If we Keep Alonso... and we sell maschorono to baracalona and we get about £50 million for that.. rerember when rafa Said people would have to Pay 50 Million for maschorna because of the impact he had in the midfeild of Liverpool... the money of the Sellin of Machsacrno would be able to buy Players Like David Vila And if we Got Enough Money to Buy other player We would Get Gago from Read Madrid... hes a kind of player like Maschrano who gets the Ball and finds Space in the feild. soo we would have Johnson And David Vila and Gago to Replace Mashcrono.Then it would be Happy Days for Liverpool.

What about pushing Real Madrid to pay £30m for Alonso (if we can get that) and using that cash to fund a move for Villa. Realistically, if we did get Villa we could no longer use Gerrard in a support role (even though his partnership with Torres is devastating) so he would probably drop back into his old position in center midfield anyway. Instead of Mascherano & Alonso we have Mascherano & Gerrard; and instead of Torres & Gerrard we have Torres & Villa. PS - I say Alonso to Real instead of Mascherano to Barca, because keeping Mascherano instead of Alonso allows Gerrard to go forward knowing the back-line is being well protected.
