Torres urges Liverpool to hijack £35million Real Madrid raid
Fernando Torres has urged Liverpool Football Club to sign David Villa.
After agreeing deals for Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo worth a combined £134milion, Real Madrid are said to be closing on a £35million transfer for the Valencia striker.
However, Torres, who plays alongside the 27-year-old for Spain, has urged Reds boss Rafael Benitez to hijack the move and take his compatriot to Merseyside.
“Rafael Benitez makes the signings and I'm sure those who come will improve us," Torres said in the Daily Star. "If it was me I would bring David Villa.
"We play well together and link up so well. I don't know if we (Spain) are the best partnership in the world but we are European champions and that is almost the same."
