Former Saints, Newcastle and Liverpool striker Kevin Keegan could be back in management soon at St Mary's thanks to Matt Le Tissier's consortium.
Nick Illingsworth, chairman of the Saints Supporters' Trust, told Sky Sports News: "Bringing Keegan in would be a big coup.
"Saints supporters would look at it as the return of the prodigal son.
"But do the new regime have the money to back Keegan because, as we know, he doesn't do things on the cheap."
As Fulham boss, Keegan led the club out of the very division that Southampton find themselves in now.
Illingworth continued: "What a lot of people would say about [current boss] Mark Wotte is he's Dutch and hasn't got experience at League One level."
