€100m Arsenal & Man Utd target approached
11:46 AM 18 June, 2009
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has hinted he will be powerless to stop Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid transfer target Karim Benzema from leaving his club.

Aulas said: "Karim has said he wants to stay another year at Lyon.

"It's very complicated to say he's 'non-transferable'.

"It's obvious we want to keep him. There's more chance he'll be at Lyon next season than he won't be.

"But I won't hide that he has been approached."

Last season, Aulas killed off transfer rumours surrounding Benzema by placing a €100m price tag on the striker's head.

. In reply to Toby arsenal isn’t broke they are the club with the least debt in the top 4. Just because are manager believes in his youth policy and doesn’t throw money around like most other clubs it doesnt mean were broke.

a least Arsenal is paying back their all of there debts (including intrest). This is something that can not be said of some other big 4 teams.

lol just because man u spend 100's of millions a year doesnt mean they have it, its a total traversty and a real shame, dont get me wrong u guys did fight the glazer takeover so it not like its your fault but seriously arsenal are in the best financial position in the top 4 by some margin, chelski are ok but theoretically RA can demand all moneies owed within a year essentially bankrupting the club, man u cant even pay the interest on their loans let alone the actual loans themselves, plus they have exhausted about 80% of the world market in terms of potential revenue wheras arsenal and liverpool have not come close to that. less of the gooner bashin, there a good team with good players who one day will probably come good.

He will never be sold for 100M, unless City buy him. Look how much Kaka and Ronaldo went for, then compare it to what Lyon want for Benzema, there is no way he is near their calibre..

€100m? Look, I love Arsene Wenger as much as anybody. But you're taking the piss if you think he'll spend that much on any player. It's just not going to happen, even if Wenger rates Benzema.

benzima is a nice player, but 4 united to put an amount on a player like him is just like throwing the cash into the gutter. i think united should focus on ribery b4 considering ben.

he is pure class. a quality player with yet to reach his peak. at 21 he cud give about a decade of very good service to any club that buys him. forget the 100million euros no one wud buy him that price. he probably a 30million pound plus player. madrid have jus caused an inflationary trend in world football. imagine if he played with a midfield of arsenal or man united's quality. he'd score loads of goals. people open eyes and see. a star is born and his name is karim benzema

France produces better quality midfielders, Henry was the last successful French striker in the EPL but even then he played for Juventus first. Not trying to jab at Lyon but the quality of football they play isn't at the highest so why should Utd spend so much money on a player that has "Potential" Surely they can spend that amount of cash on a group of players rather than all eggs in one basket.

i am not sure about benzema. I'm not saying this because im a city fan but to be honest he will be the biggest waste of money united will spend. SCORES BARELY ANY GOALS, plays in France where the football is completely different and he just doesn't suit the premier league, leave him, hes terrible!

I am not sure about Benzema, he has good reviews, but will he fit in the Man Utd team ? It seems to be a lot of money on a player who is not a prolific goal scorer, no doubt a good player, but he failed in the last euro for france if that is anything to go by.
