Anton Ferdinand is pleased to see Richard Dunne linked with Sunderland.

Steve Bruce is said to be willing to pay £5million for the Manchester City defender, and Ferdinand admits he would welcome the opportunity to play alongside the Irishman.

"That would bring another good defender to the club but who is to say I would be playing alongside him,” said the 24-year-old. "I have got to work hard to try and get that shirt.

“If he does come to the club I would welcome whim with open arms. Outside of the top four, he is one of the best defenders. If I could play with him, it would be an honour."
