£10million former Liverpool striker tops Sunderland wanted list
07:49 PM 21 June, 2009
Peter Crouch, according to reports, is Steve Bruce’s top target at Sunderland Football Club.

The beanpole England international only signed for Portsmouth in an £11million deal from Liverpool last summer, but he recently revealed his disappointment at last season.

Reports in the Daily Star Sunday claim Bruce has placed Crouch at the top of his wanted list, but Manchester City and Wolfsburg have also been linked with the player.

It is believed the Black Cats manager will make an offer of £10million for the 28-year-old, who could be one of many to leave Fratton Park during the transfer window.

John, how can you say Brucie is the best manager of his generation, when Rafa Benitez is the same age and Mourinho is two or three years younger?

as if steve bruce would get teh nod at man city.. theyll hire some mercenary big namer, frank rikjaard or similar. steve bruce may finally have found a club big enough to suit his ambition, i can see him stuffing his big chance. crouch and bent could well work up front, but i cant see bruvey selling kenwyne. hardly the first step to building a bright tomorrow. especially when he has funds already. crouch, bent, dunne, reo-coker, pennant. all unwanted at their respective clubs, all would be a huge step up for us and are relatively acheivable. role on the futures bright

Roy Keane shud'v paid Liverpool the asking price last year for Crouch when he was spending money like he was playing Monopoly. Hope it finally happens & Bruce gets his man. That would pave the way for Kenwyne to go to Tottenham who part ex us Bent and things might start happening for us.Jones is good but Crouch is better. We've got the best manager of his generation in Steve Bruce. It won't last long because he'll be away as soon as Man City sack Hughes and offer Bruce the job, but it might last long enough to give us a solid foundation and credibility to attract the best in future
