Philippe Mexes has emerged as a target for Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea Football Club.

Ricardo Carvalho, the Portugal international, is widely expected to leave Stamford Bridge to be reunited with Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan this summer.

Reports now suggest new Blues coach Ancelotti plans to replace the 31-year-old with Mexes, who has been with Italian giants Roma since 2004.

Although Giallorossi insist the 27-year-old is not for sale, it has been suggested in Italy that an offer of £12million, well within Chelsea’s budget, would be considered.
