Canary Clingan sought by Championship trio
04:15 PM 24 June, 2009
Norwich City winger Sammy Clingan is in demand and set to leave Carrow Road.

Clingan has attracted reported interest by three Championship sides, Coventry City, Sheffield Wednesday and Cardiff City.

Norwich assistant manager Ian Butterworth said, "I think Sammy is an excellent player and could play at a higher level.

"Bryan Gunn had a chat with the players at the end of the season and wanted to know their feelings towards Norwich City.

"But we have had a lot of interest in Sammy and one or two other players. We will have to see what is best for Norwich City and take it from there."

"You would like think we would be able to keep players like Sammy Clingan, but if he expresses a desire to play elsewhere what do you do?"

"You try to help him on his way and get the best deal we possibly can for the football club."
