Leeds United winger Peter Sweeney is wanted by Grimsby.

The former Stoke City man made eight appearances for the Mariners while on loan last season and the 24-year-old last played for Leeds in May 2008.

Grimsby manager Mike Newell said, "The chairman is working hard on that. We'll do everything possible to try and persuade the player that this is the place he should come to play."
