No Arsenal approach for £7million-rated striker
02:30 PM 26 June, 2009
Arsenal Football Club have not made an approach for Marouane Chamakh.

The Gunners are looking to sign a new striker this summer, and they have been heavily linked with the £7million-rated Morocco international in recent weeks.

Chamakh has just twelve months remaining on his deal with Bordeaux, but whilst the French club insist Arsene Wenger has not been in touch, they also hope the striker pens a new deal.

“We want Marouane to sign a new contract with us, he knows that. We want to build a great team here, not sell our best players,” president Jean-Louis Triaud told Sky Sports.

"Chamakh has not received any offer or enquiry by a big or small Premier League club. The only enquiry has come from a Swiss club."

LOL arsenal are shit so if you class a top four team that consistently qualifies for the champions league & reached the final in 2006 & semi in 2009 + always competes for trophies on a small transfer what would you call tottenham? A side that spent 50 million last year to battle relegation for half the season & get knocked out of the uefa cup in the 2nd round group stage MATE THAT IS SHIT. Seriously why would you visit an arsenal tranfer rumours page you must really be interested & threatened by us because I don't even care who spurs sign, us gunners fans don't even see you as competition Levy will probably spend another 50 million this year & you still won't qualify for the CL or win any trophies actually maybe the mickey mouse carling cup you could win that. And talk about the players you've been linked with Stuart Downing for 15 million only retards like spurs would sign a SHITE player like that for so much money

how can it be moronic to suggest signing owen on a freebie?? he's world class when fit & would be in my opinion worth the risk of getting him fit. his experience around some of the younger players would be beneficial too. the ins for me would be; owen, upson, hangeland & veloso. & the outs; adebayor, silvestre, eboue (while he still commands a decent fee) & gallas (who should have been ditched after the birmingham fiasco!!)

You fans calling for us to sign michael owen are crazy he's a past it has-been who has no pace, do you not watch arsenal matches our whole game is based upon fast paced counter-attacking football jesus there are some morons on this site, we just need to replace almunia & not with scott carson as someone stated above but a GK like frey, a holding midfielder like melo/inler/veloso/toure/mahamadou diarra & sell denilson, senderos & silvestre that's all.

this is my first reply and i had too after all the balls i read in this. We have fans calling for ade's and toures head just so we can get new replacements in. Toure should not be sold, if he's linked up with a bigger central defender it would be perfect, as he is strong, atheletic and an intelligent player but he and gallas are to similar. Also his brother would come if he played rather than sold. I hear flamini's name threw about, forget him. Arsenals 4 singings LAST YEAR should have been given, zapata, yaya and an out and out striker. Eduardo will do business when fit but we miss and commanding tony adams style defender, a safe hands keeper, holding midfielder and a true fox in the box finisher. We have that many chances per game but dont score enough. 4 signing: keeper (carson), defender (zapata), midfield (yaya), up front (huntalaar)and EVEN OWEN WHO IS JUST A PURE GOAL SCORER WOULD DO WELL A ARSENAL AS HE IS PURE OUT AND OUT STRIKER we can play 3 up front at home and 2 away and even 1 away to the top teams. solid spine for any team or maybe i dont know wat im on about.

Nick G, i think your bang on target.. Owen with a record of goals/per game and experiance would be a out standing addition... he's injury prone... true,, but we have had Rosicky on the sidelines for 18mths now n is being given 12mths to prove himself so why not do that to Owen..

We need a DM like Melo,Inler,Scott Parker,Cattermole,De Rossi,Yaya Toure,Huddlestone,Frings...and a CB like Upson,Lescott,Richards,Carvalho,Hangeland,Mertersacker,Metzelder....sell Gallas and Senderos to raise money and balance team...then sell Ade if we get an offer of £18+ and offer Real £10 for Huntelear or sign Owen on a free (could be a good wild card for free - we could def do with him - he is English and experienced+can be a model for Theo)

So, basically what you're saying in this piece is... "All of our reports linking Arsenal to Bordeaux and Chamakh have been complete and utter tosh." But then again, we kinda already knew that. Thanks for acknowledging your abject failure at journalism though.
