Wigan Athletic swoop for international
12:17 PM 02 July, 2009
Wigan Athletic Football Club have signed Hendry Thomas.

The Honduran international midfielder was on the brink of a move to the JJB Stadium whilst Steve Bruce was in charge last summer, but he failed to obtain a work permit.

Twelve months on and new boss Roberto Martinez has renewed the clubs interest in the 24-year-old, who has been granted permission to move to England from Deportivo Olimpia.

"I want to prove myself in the Premier League and what happened last year was very disappointing for me personally," Thomas told the official club website.

"But I have worked hard all season to stay fit and qualify for the work permit rules and it is a dream come true for me to come to England. I can't wait to start now.

"I want to thank Roberto Martinez and Wigan Athletic for giving me the chance to come here and I'm determined to show them they have not made a mistake."
