Owen beams at Manchester United transfer
10:47 AM 04 July, 2009
Michael Owen is delighted to join Manchester United Football Club.

The former Liverpool legend has signed a shock two-year deal with the Premier League champions, who he joins on a free transfer following the end of his Newcastle United deal.

"It feels great. I never even had it in my wildest dreams really but then I got the call from the manager to come and meet him,” Owen told MUTV.

"It was a shock but I'm obviously really happy and things have moved quickly since then.
"I probably had a poor spell up at Newcastle but prior to that, my career was very good and I'm sure a top club like this can reignite my career.

“Hopefully I can score a few goals and help the team to more success. It's early days but when you think about United, you automatically think about winning trophies, the stadium, the massive fanbase."

So you want Michael Owen, with a chance of playing in a world cup, to turn rond to Sir Alex Ferguson & Manchester United and say No thanks, I'm going to Hull or Stoke. This is because I played for Liverpool who longer want me and they sold me to Real Madrid. I'd also like to stay true to a legion of Liverpool fans who have always wished me well...you are seriously out of your head if you think Owen could turn this move down. Benitez is a complete joke of a manager. There will be a lot of people eating their words when he starts scoring because this guy will be scoring goals like Van Nistelrooy....for fun.

It amazes me that some poeple write such drivel! Owen was sold by Liverpool because he cant cut it any more and i dont particularly care whether he goes to man Utd or not, I dont think he will score many and will probably warm the bench for half the season. Anyway, without Ronaldo and Tevez i cant see Utd winning much if anything this season!!!
