Liverpool Football Club have confirmed Fabio Aurelio has picked up a knee injury, but reports of a six-month lay-off are wide of the mark.

The fullback suffered the injury as a result of a freak accident whilst playing with his kids in Brazil, but he is unlikely to be sidelined for more than two months.

"He was injured playing with his son and really disappointed because he was enjoying the summer," said Reds manager Rafael Benitez.

"He had the operation - he has had a problem with his cartilage - so he will be one month, maximum two months, not six months like I see in the press."
