Micky Adams has dampened speculation linking him to the vacant managerial post at Southampton.
Adams was recently appointed the manager at League Two Port Vale. He spent five seasons as a player at Southampton.
The Saints have recently been taken over and Mark Wotte departed the manager's position.
"It's a club that I know well and it's a club that's in my system, but I agreed to be manager of Port Vale and that's what I'll do," Adams told BBC Radio Stoke.
"Maybe after they find out that we've lost 1-0 at Biddulph [in a pre-season friendly], my odds will lengthen a bit."
