Aston Villa Football Club are expected to move for Miguel Veloso.

The Portugal international is widely tipped to leave Sporting Lisbon this summer, and a number of Premier League sides have been linked with his signature.

It is believed Martin O’Neill sent scouts to watch the 23-year-old in action against Nottingham Forest in a pre-season friendly, as he considers a bid for the player.

The Villa manager is in the market for a replacement for Gareth Barry, who has left for Manchester City, and Veloso is likely to be available for around £10million.
