Manchester United signing keen to avoid Ronaldo comparisons
10:05 AM 14 July, 2009
Antonio Valencia, Manchester United Football Club’s new £16million winger, is keen to avoid comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Ecuadorian winger was the first signing for the Reds following the departure of Ronaldo, who finally clinched a move to Real Madrid earlier this summer.

Naturally, comparisons were made between the two players, but the former Wigan Athletic star has wasted no time in insisting he is his own man.

"I have mentioned this a few times in the past when I first spoke to Manchester United it was never said that I was coming to replace Cristiano Ronaldo,” said Valencia on Sky Sports.

"Obviously he did very well here because he is a great player but I am here to do the things that I do well. I have got a real desire to succeed and I will never compare myself to him."
