Ryan Nelsen is watching Blackburn Rovers’ transfer movements with interest.

Sam Allardyce lost Roque Santa Cruz to Manchester City for around £16million this summer, and it remains to be seen how much of this will be pumped back into the squad.

Rovers have been linked with the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, of Real Madrid, in recent weeks, and Nelsen is excited at the prospects of a big-name signing arriving.

"If Roque's funds become available we're probably looking for a big signing, obviously a striker," he told Sky Sports News. "You never know who could join.

“With Sam's reputation in the market it'll be interesting who he brings in. All the players have complete trust in him and who he's going to bring in and the system he sets out.

"We're just excited to get going."
