West Ham United are checking out Simone Bezziccheri, confirm Sky Sports.

Gianfranco Zola has invited his compatriot Italian over to London for a trial spell with the Premier League side, who could offer him a contract ahead of the new season.

The 16-year-old played the full 90 minutes of the 1-1 draw against Cambridge United over the weekend, with the youthful United side coached by Tony Carr.

Bezziccheri, a midfielder, is currently with Serie A giants Roma.
