£12million Downing not enough for Aston Villa
04:30 PM 22 July, 2009
Curtis Davies believes Aston Villa Football Club must make sure Stewart Downing is not the only new arrival ahead of the new season.

Martin O’Neill’s side have paid £12million to land Downing from Middlesbrough, but Davies is hoping there will be more big-names following the winger to the Midlands.

"Hopefully there will be more additions similar to Stewart Downing. It's a case of being patient," the defender is quoted as saying in The Express and Star.

"I'm sure the manager has a game plan. If we're going to try and push on next season, we need numbers but also strength. There's no point of signing people for the sake of it."

The latest name being linked with a move to Villa Park is Tottenham Hotspur’s Jermaine Jenas, who could fill the boots of Gareth Barry to has signed for Manchester City.
