John Obi Mikel is predicting a bright future after signing a new deal with Chelsea.

The Nigerian international has been with the Blues since 2005, and he is expected to become a key member of the midfield for years to come.

It has now been revealed that Mikel, 22, has penned a new deal which keeps him at Stamford Bridge until 2014, and he is expecting a bright future under Carlo Ancelotti.

"It was easy to commit to because I am happy here and when the opportunity came it was good to sign,” he told the official club site. "My future with the new manager will be bright.”

Mikel has previously been linked with a move to Inter Milan, who are of course coached by Jose Mourinho who moved the earth to sign him during his reign as Chelsea boss.
